Privacy Policy

Short version: your data stays on your device (and your iCloud account if you enable sync). We do not collect it, sell it, or share it. Anonymous analytics are opt-in and can be turned off in Settings.

Credit Buddy ("we," "our," or "the app") helps you track credit card benefits and rewards. This policy explains what information the app stores, how it is handled, and your choices.

What data the app stores

Credit Buddy stores the information you enter, including credit card names, benefit details, reward account balances, and calculator history.

This data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.

iCloud sync (optional)

If you enable iCloud sync, your app data is stored in your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit so it can sync across your own devices.

We do not have access to your iCloud data.

What we collect

We do not collect, transmit, or store your card and rewards data on our servers. Credit Buddy does not require an account and does not include advertising trackers.

Anonymous analytics (optional)

Credit Buddy may ask if you want to share anonymous usage analytics to help improve the app. This is optional, opt-in only, and can be changed in Settings.

If enabled, we may collect basic product interaction events such as which app screens are opened, whether a release announcement was viewed or dismissed, and whether a purchase screen was viewed or completed. We do not collect card names, issuer-specific wallet contents, balances, credit amounts, reward balances, redemption details, or personal data.

Third-party services

Credit Buddy communicates with these services:

  • Apple iCloud (CloudKit): Only when you enable sync. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple StoreKit: Used for optional Credit Buddy+ purchases and managed by Apple.
  • PostHog: Used only for opt-in anonymous product analytics. Data is hosted in PostHog's US Cloud and is processed without creating a person profile.
  • Formspree: Used when you choose to submit your email address on this website for newsletter or app update emails.

Website email updates

If you submit your email address on this website, we use it only to send Credit Buddy updates or newsletter-style notes. You can ask to be removed at any time by contacting us.

Permissions

Credit Buddy may request access to notifications (for reminders) and calendar (for benefit deadline events). These permissions are optional and can be changed in iOS settings at any time.

Data deletion

You can delete your data in the app settings at any time. Deleting the app removes local data. If iCloud sync is enabled, synced data can also be removed from iCloud account settings.

Children's privacy

Credit Buddy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we do, the "last updated" date above will change.
